The George Boone Blues Band lit up The Glove Theater in Gloversville, NY, on December 21, 2024, delivering a blues performance that will be talked about for years to come. To a packed house, they played not one but two soul-stirring sets that had the crowd cheering, grooving, and fully immersed in the music.
George Boone is the epitome of a true bluesman, with a direct connection to the heart and soul of the genre. From the moment he stepped on stage, it was clear that Boone doesn’t just play the blues—he lives it. His expressive guitar work and evocative vocals painted vivid emotional landscapes, leaving the audience feeling every note. Boone’s ability to channel raw emotion through his performance is a rare gift, and his commanding stage presence made the experience even more memorable.
Dressed to impress, Boone started the night in a tailored suit paired with stunning blue rhinestone-covered shoes that sparkled under the lights. For the second set, he turned up the heat, changing into a fiery red ensemble complete with red suede shoes, a bold look that perfectly matched the energy of the night.
The band’s rhythm section was nothing short of exceptional. Ralph Bowman held it down on bass, providing funky basslines that were both the backbone and the heartbeat of the band. His grooves were infectious, keeping the audience moving and setting the foundation for every song. On drums, Mark McKay showcased his incredible skill and adaptability, effortlessly navigating the impromptu changes that are a hallmark of blues music. His dynamic drumming elevated the performance, proving he’s a master of his craft.
The night included a special treat when Mark Triamante, a Gloversville native, joined the band on guitar. His addition brought a warmth and depth to the performance that only a true professional can offer. Triamante knew exactly when to take the spotlight and when to support the band, making his contributions feel seamless and natural. Seeing such a talented musician play in his hometown was an honor for everyone in attendance.
The audience was fully engaged throughout the night, feeling the music in their souls. Boone’s charisma and energy had people on their feet, cheering, dancing, and grooving right along with the band. The atmosphere was electric, a testament to the power of live blues music.
The Glove Theater itself played a starring role in the evening’s success. This century-old venue is quickly establishing itself as one of the top concert destinations in upstate New York. Thanks to the passion and dedication of its volunteers, The Glove is alive with energy and purpose. From the fresh popcorn to a fine selection of craft beers, the concessions were top-notch, and the cheerful staff ensured that everyone had a fantastic experience.
Kathleen Evan’s Perrotta, president of the board of directors, and her team are doing incredible work with the 518 Concert Series. With 2025 shaping up to be a banner year, there’s no longer a need to travel to Albany or Saratoga for world-class entertainment—The Glove is bringing it right to our doorstep. This venue is tapping into the spirit of Gloversville, giving residents the chance to experience face-melting music and unforgettable performances in their hometown.
Keep an eye on the upcoming schedule because epic things are on the horizon for The Glove Theater. If the George Boone Blues Band’s incredible show is any indication, this is just the beginning of an exciting new era for live music in Gloversville.
All the best,
