On January 11th Thirteen, a Taylor Swift tribute band played at The Glove Theatre in Gloversville, NY, and they delivered an absolutely unforgettable performance. The Swifties were out in full force, glittering in sequins and trading friendship bracelets, but the real sparkle came from the talent on stage.
This is not just a band playing Taylor Swift songs; this is a full performance. The band—comprised of the insanely talented Michael Bruce on drums, Beth Zaje providing breathtaking lead vocals, Derek Montanye shredding on guitar, Kevin Hodge commanding the keys, Kiara Davis adding stunning harmonies, and Chad Johnson holding it down on bass—completely brought Taylor’s music to life.
Each musician brought their own unique magic to the stage, blending seamlessly to create an experience that felt like much more than a concert. From Beth and Kiara’s heartfelt vocals to the tight, electrifying instrumentation, this band is off the charts.
Beth Donnelly and Imagine Lighting Productions provided a light show that elevated this performance to a whole new level. Ryan Nilson provided sound support for the night, which added to the show's success. I mention Beth and Ryan because the production team works very hard behind the scenes to make the event seem effortless, and their contributions to the night were crucial to its success.
But what truly stole my heart? The fans. The children in the crowd were completely mesmerized, eyes wide with wonder and hearts brimming with excitement. Dressed like little rock stars, they watched every move intently, sang along to every word, and eagerly traded bracelets with Beth and Kiara. Honestly, to them, it might as well have been Taylor herself up there.
This wasn’t just a night of music; it was a celebration of the community and connection Taylor’s music inspires. And while I might not have considered myself a Swiftie before, I left the theater with a newfound respect for her fans and the incredible band that brought her songs to life.
If you ever get the chance to see Thirteen or their other project, That 80s Band, do yourself a favor and GO. It’s an experience I’ll never forget—and I might just be a Taylor Swift fan now.
All the best,
